Global Energy Interconnection Research Institute Europe GmbH (GEIRI Europe) focuses on applied research into technologies for new energies and intelligent power grids. GEIRI Europe is a subsidiary of the Beijing-based Global Energy Interconnection Research Institute Co. Ltd., which in turn is a subsidiary of the State Grid Corporation of China. The State Grid Corporation of China is the world's largest energy company based in Beijing / China. With annual sales of over $ 383 billion in 2020, State Grid ranks 3rd on the Fortune Global 500 list of the world's largest companies. GEIRI Europe is active in the fields of High Voltage Direct Current Energy Transmission, Intelligent Sensing and Measurement (ISM), High-End Electrical Materials (HEM), and Energy Storage Materials and Technology (ESMT). The Engineering Centre strives to continuously expand business in the European HVDC market to jointly shape the future of renewable energy. With its expertise over the last years, the Engineering Centre is committed to bringing success to the customers it serves. In these fields GEIRI Europe also cooperates with European industry and academic partners. GEIRI Europe’s goal is to improve the integration of renewable energies into the power grid.
